In 1946 the King of Thailand, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, came to the throne. He is now the longest reigning monarch in the world.
This public holiday is celebrated nationwide as Father s Day (WAN PHO HENG CHAT - วันพ่อแห่งชาติ). The King is considered as the father of all Thai people.
